Abstract
(Piano Sonata No. 3 Op. 5 in f minor 1st)>을 중심으로 분석 ․ 연구하였다. 그는 주관적 감정미학이 지배한 낭만주의시대를 살아가면서도 고전시대의 전통형식과 기법을 계승하고 발전시켜 고전적 낭만주의라는 독창적인 영역을 이루어낸 작곡가이다.| Johannes Brahms is one of the most prominent composers at the time of the age of when Romanticism in the 19th century. Although he was living in part of the age Romanticism flourished, and thus bombarded with Romantic elements from the environment, he endeavored to keep the tradition of classical music. At the same time, he also tried to maintain the tone and emotion of the Romanticism in his music, which led to the introduction of a new method of musical expression. In this way, Brahms successfully united elements of Romanticism and Classicism, which can be seem quite contrary to each other superficially, constructing his own unique musical style. For this reason, he is often to referred as the representative composer of the Classical Romanticism. The following thesis demonstrates the biography, periodical setting, masterpieces, and their characteristics of Johannes Brahms, especially focusing on the analysis of Piano Sonata No.3 Op. 5 1st. This focus is necessary to the make scrutiny into how Brahms, who is referred as the representative of Romantic Classicism, fused his unique style with ‘Sonata’ form, which was widespread during the age of Classicism. Furthermore, the thesis will illustrate how elements of both Classicism and Romanticism co-existed in harmony in his masterpieces. The research that this thesis carries out has significance in realizing the unique musical realm of Johannes Brahms, which clearly distinguishes itself from those of other 19th century Romanticism composers’ through studying his musical exclusivity. This thesis, overall, will assert that even though Brahms lived through the age of Romanticism, which was driven by aesthetic feelings, he successfully constructed the musical realm of Romantic Classicism via both inheriting and improving the traditional format and composition method of the age of Classicism.; Johannes Brahms is one of the most prominent composers at the time of the age of when Romanticism in the 19th century.
