HbbTV 위성 수신기의 인터렉티브 TV 어플리케이션을 위한 접근성 향상 방안 및 구현

Abstract

HbbTV standard is a European industrial standard for connecting the existing broadcasting network and high-speed internet, enabling interaction with the final user through a web application service, and providing DTV (Digital TV) service at the same time. It includes an interactive TV application in order to interact with users. Broadcasters offer interactive application services on their own TV channels and provide users with various services such as a catch-up service, teletexting, real-time voting, quizzes, etc. Meanwhile, the interactive application service provided for viewers' convenience should be improved in terms of accessibility. For example, as of now, users have no other way to know whether the channel he or she is viewing provides an interactive application service other than checking a red button displayed at the bottom right-hand corner of the TV monitor. This study describes about a filtering process which makes it possible to check whether the interactive application service is on or off in the searching channel. The filtered channel information is recorded in a database. User Interface application then adds an icon on a channel list window to distinguish the channels available with the interactive application service, according to the database. As a result, the receiver immediately confirms through the channel list window whether the interactive application service is provided on the channel a viewer intends to watch, thereby enhancing accessibility of the interactive application.; HbbTV(Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) 표준은 기존의 방송망과 초고속 인터넷망을 결합하고 웹 어플리케이션 서비스를 통하여 최종 사용자와의 상호 작용을 가능하도록 하며 동시에 DTV(Digital TV)서비스를 제공하는 유럽 산업표준이다. 이 표준은 사용자와의 상호작용을 위하여 인터렉티브 TV 어플리케이션 (interactive TV application)을 포함한다. 방송 사업자는 자사의 채널에 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스를 제공하며, 사용자는 이 서비스를 통하여 TV 다시보기 기능인 캐치업(catch-up) 서비스, 문자방송을 제공하는 텔레텍스트(teletext) 서비스, 실시간 투표 서비스, 퀴즈 서비스 등 많은 서비스를 이용할 수 있다. 한편, 채널(channel)을 시청하는 사용자의 다양한 편의를 위해 제공되는 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스는 접근성에 있어서 보완해야 할 점이 있다. 예를 들면, 사용자는 수천 개의 위성 채널에서 현재 시청중인 채널 또는 시청을 원하는 채널에 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스의 제공 여부를 인지 할 수 있는 방법은 단지 채널 전환 시 우측 하단에 레드 버튼(red button)이 표시 되는 것으로 확인할 수 있을 뿐이다. 본 논문에서는 검색중인 채널에 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스의 존재 여부를 확인할 수 있도록 필터링(filtering)을 적용하였다. 필터링하여 걸러진 채널 정보는 데이터베이스(database)에 기록한다. 또한, UI 어플리케이션(User Interface application)은 기록된 데이터베이스의 채널 정보를 참조하여 채널 리스트(channel list) 창에 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스 구분을 위한 아이콘을 추가한다. 그 결과로 수신기는 채널 리스트 창을 통하여 보고자 하는 채널에 인터렉티브 어플리케이션 서비스가 제공되는지 즉각적으로 확인할 수 있도록 제공하여 인터렉티브 어플리케이션의 접근성이 향상되도록 한다.|HbbTV standard is a European industrial standard for connecting the existing broadcasting network and high-speed internet, enabling interaction with the final user through a web application service, and providing DTV (Digital TV) service at the same time.
