Abstract
최근 정부가 최우선 국정운영 전략으로 창조경제를 강조하면서, 창조적인 산업의 융합과 시너지를 가져올 수 있는 정보통신기술(ICT : Information Communication Technology) 분야의 벤처기업 양성은 한국 경제가 나가야 할 방향이자, 국가성장 동력으로 주목받고 있다. 하지만, 벤처기업들의 미래는 장미 빛이 아니다. 오히려 벤처산업의 미래는 어둡기 만하다. 2012년 중소기업청에 따르면, 정보통신 분야의 신생기업의 평균 생존율은 창업 5년 뒤 25%에 못 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 실제로 정부의 창업 열풍 주도 속에서도 성공하는 벤처기업 사례를 찾는 것은 매우 힘든 일이다. 하지만 세계의 ICT 산업을 선도하고 있는 미국 실리콘밸리의 경우 많은 수많은 신생기업들이 탄생하지만, 5년 뒤 생존율은 50% 이상으로 우리나라 기업의 생존율의 2배를 넘는다. 이러한 높은 생존율은 많은 성공적인 사례를 만들며 세계 ICT 산업을 선도하는 원동력인 것이다. 전문가들은 실리콘밸리와 한국의 가장 큰 차이를 실패경험의 자산화로 꼽는다. 실리콘밸리의 성공은 실패에 대한 관용적인 사회문화적 특성과 실패 경험에 대한 사회적인 자산화와 밀접하게 연관되어 있다는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 벤처기업의 생존율을 높이기 위해 선행연구 조사와 벤처기업 경영자들로 구성된 전문가 집단을 통한 심층적인 조사 연구로 벤처기업의 시기별 주요 리스크를 방대하게 도출하여, 이들의 리스크 경험을 사회적 자산화하고, 자료 분석과 전문가 의견을 수렴하여 벤처기업의 리스크관리 방법을 제안하였다.| The recent foundations of start-up companies (herein after referred to as start-ups) in the ICT (Information Communication Technology) Industry are increasing rapidly due to an increase of business opportunities and market expansions. The growth of Start-ups in the ICT industry is very significant for establishing "The Creative Economy", which integrate various industries, create synergy across those industries, and also contribute to creative economic growth. However, the current outlook of start-ups is not so promising because the current survival rate of start-up companies is very low. The survival rate of start-up companies after 2 years of establishment is less than 50.0%, and the rate after 5 years is less than 25.0%. This means that start-up businesses pose high risk factors for attracting potential entrepreneurs to join the industry. The government and society are focusing on improving the social infrastructures and systems of start-ups to support its survival and success. However, there has been a lack of consideration about the risks that start-ups potentially face, as well as measures for management and reduction of such risks. Currently, numerous start-ups are faced with critical risks and experiencing failures. However, the risks could be controlled and prevented if start-ups are equipped with sufficient risk management methods and knowledge in advance. The purpose of this study is to propose management and control methods for potential risks of start-ups to improve their survival rate and success probabilities. In order to achieve this purpose, this study utilized Delphi methods and surveys to collect a wide range of preceding research with regards to the risks of start-up companies, as well as the opinions of experienced specialists equipped with extensive knowledge of the risk and failure factors of start-up company management. As a result, this study conceptualized the structure of risks, and identified the lists of the critical risks that start-up founders are required to control and manage through each phase of the life cycles of start-up companies. This study proposes the start-up company risk management model and procedures based on the practical knowledge and comprehension regarding potential risks..
