- 핸드커프 곡선(handcuff curve)과 막대 수(stick number) 그리고 최소꼬임(minimally knotted)에 대해 소개로부터 시작한다. 교차 수 7개까지의 핸드커프 곡선의 표에서 최소꼬임에 해당되는 것이 6_1, 7_1, 7_2 가 있다. 그 중에 6_1의 최소 막대 수가 8개라고 결정하였다.
