- Abstract
- This paper discusses the findings from three full-scale lightly reinforced beam-column-slab joints subjected to bidirectional cyclic loading. The considered design parameter is amount of transverse reinforcement in the joint region. The test data suggest that bidirectional loading amplifies damage in the joint region, and this is more significantly observed in the specimen without transverse reinforcement in the joint region. This specimen experienced joint shear failure without beam hinging mechanism as a result of the absence of transverse reinforcement in the joint region. The joint shear strengths obtained from the test specimens are compared with the strength recommendations of the ASCE/SEI 41-17 standards.
