한국과 미국의 하이프 사이클을 활용한 양국 간 e-비즈니스 혁신기술격차 조정과정 예측 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 e비즈니스 시장에서 중심적 위치를 차지하고 있는 혁신기술 시장을 선도하는 미국과 비교하여 추격자의 위치에 있는 한국이 앞으로 가져야 할 전략이 무엇인지에 대한 생각에서 시작되었다. 한국 정부와 기업은 그간 실리콘밸리를 따라 잡기 위해 부단한 노력을 기울여 왔기 때문에 이것이 언제, 어떻게 결실을 맺을 수 있는지에 대해 예측해 보는 것은 의미가 있을 것이다. 가능한 계량적 분석을 통해서 다음과 같은 세 가지 질문에 대한 답을 찾아보았다. 첫째, 신 기술이 출현하고 진보하는 과정에서 미국은 어떤 특징을 보이는가이다. 둘째, 같은 종류의 기술이라면 한국은 기술의 진보과정에서 미국과 어떤 차이가 있는가이다. 셋째, 현재 한국의 기술수준은 미국에 비해 차이가 있지만 이 차이가 앞으로 언제 어떻게 달라질 것인가이다. 본 연구는 국가별 혁신기술이 진보과정에서 각각 어떤 특징이 있는지와 기술격차의 변화를 계량적으로 예측한 새로운 시도라는 점에서 중요한 의미가 있다. 과거 대부분은 기술예측 방법론과 개별국가 입장에서 본 주관적인 기술수준 평가가 많았으며, 미국과 한국의 개별적 기술 자료를 매칭하여 하나의 기준으로 비교한 연구는 없었다. 본 연구는 그간 각 나라에서 자체 목적을 가지고 개별적으로 수행해 온 글로벌 기술격차에 관한 연구를 하나의 기준으로 병합하고, 국가 간 기술격차의 변화과정을 동태적, 계량적으로 분석함으로써 기술예측 분야에서 새로운 시도를 했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This research began with questions about what strategy South Korea should have in the position of a follower in the e-Business emerging technology market which has been led by the U.S.. Since the Korean government and enterprises have made great efforts to keep up with Silicon Valley, the author thought it would be meaningful if this study can predict when and how these efforts will bear fruit. The following three questions have been answered in a possible statistical way. First, what features does the United States have in the emergence of new technology and its progress? Second, how does South Korea differ from the United States in the progress of the same kind of technology? Third, when and how will Korea"s technology level change in the future while it is currently lower than that of the United States. This study presents that there is a significant advancement in that this technology prediction research makes a new attempt by combining different standards of existing studies into one and analyzing the transformation processes of technology gaps between two countries dynamically and quantitatively while the past studies of international technology gaps have been carried out individually in each country for its own purpose.
