Abstract
To disperse traffic explosion in hotspot areas, the operators have been overlaying their formerly deployed legacy networks with small cells in a denser manner. In this letter, a location-aware self-optimization scheme is proposed, which improves per-user throughput by adjusting downlink transmission power offset based on the effective provision of positioning. The simulation results confirm that, without relying on discovery signals, the proposed scheme provides higher average SINR per user equipment than the small cell on/off control scheme with the discovery signal in 3GPP-LTE Standards, and the localized capacity is also improved.
