재해로 인해 문화관광지에서 나타나는 제(諸)현상 분석: 2016경주지진을 대상으로

Abstract

1978년 대한민국 지진 관측 이래 5.8이라는 최대 규모의 지진이 2016년 9월 12일 경주에서 발생하였다. 경주는 한국의 유네스코 세계유산을 보유한 역사적 도시로서 관광산업을 기반으로 한 유명 관광지이다. 지진은 경주의 경제적, 사회·문화적 및 환경적 변화뿐만 아니라 관광산업에도 변화를 야기하였다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 신문기사를 대상으로 내용분석을 통해 자연재해 발생으로 인해 문화관광지인 경주에서 나타난 제 현상에 대해 객관적·체계적·포괄적으로 조명하고 분석하는 것이다. 경주지진 발생 당일인 2016년 9월 12일부터 2017년 12월 31일까지의 약 1년 4개월간의 시기를 선택하여 경주지진이라는 키워드를 통해 조선일보, 동아일보 및 한겨례 등 국내 주요 신문기사를 검색하여 자료를 수집하였다. 총 430건의 신문기사를 대상으로 기사유형, 기사게재면, 기사방향 및 기사주제 등의 분석유목에 따라 내용분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과를 기반으로 재해로 인해 나타나는 현상과 사회적 관심을 심층적으로 규명·논의함으로써 재해로 인한 관광의 위기를 극복하고 예방할 수 있는 위기관리 대책방안 및 시사점을 제시하였다. The 5.8-magnitude earthquake, the most powerful seismic activity since 1978, occurred in 12 September 2016 in the historic city of Gyeongju which is one of the prominent tourist destinations possessing the UNESCO World Heritage in Korea. The earthquakes caused not only the change of tourism industry but also economic, sociocultural and environmental changes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze various phenomena which occurred in Gyeongju after 2016 Gyeongju earthquake. A content analysis was performed on the total of 430 articles from three Korean major daily newspapers published from 12 September 2016 to 31 December 2017. This study proposed key implications and directions for risk management to prevent and overcome disaster crisis in tourism industry based on the results of the analysis.
