다문화교육을 위한 교사전문성 계발활동 참여요인 분석

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 교사의 다문화교육 교사전문성 계발활동 참여 영향요인을 탐색하는 데 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 교사의 다문화교육 교사전문성 계발활동의 유형별(① 기관 중심, ② 교사 공동체 중심, ③ 개인 중심) 참여 여부와 참여 유형 다양성에 대한 교사 및 학교 수준 특성 변인의 효과를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 ‘문화다양성 교육현황 실태조사’를 활용하였고, 다문화 중점학교 43곳의 교사 974명이 분석대상에 포함되었다. 교사 및 학교 수준 변인을 동시에 고려한 일반화 위계적 선형 모형(HGLM) 및 위계적 선형 모형(HLM)의 분석 결과, 학교장의 다문화 친화적 수업지도성, 교사의 학부․대학원 다문화교육 수업 수강경험, 교직경력, 근무지역(읍․면)이 대부분의 경우에서 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 성별(남자), 다문화학생 교수경험, 다문화 연구학교 지정경험, 학생-교사 비율의 효과도 부분적으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 교사의 다문화교육 교사전문성 계발활동 참여를 격려하기 위한 체계적인 방안을 모색하는 데 유용한 정보를 제공할 것이다.The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing teachers' participation in teacher professional development activities for multicultural education (PD-ME). More specifically, we examine the effects of teacher- and school-level factors on teachers’ participation in PD-ME (three types: institution-, teacher community-, and individual-centered). Based on a sample of 974 teachers across 43 schools from the Cultural Diversity Education Demands Survey dataset, hierarchical generalized linear modeling (HGLM) analyses and hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) analyses have been conducted. The findings of this study show that the principal’s culturally responsive leadership, teachers’ attending undergraduate/graduate lectures for multicultural education, teachers’ teaching experiences, and school location (eup/myeon: a rural area) are positively associated with teachers’ participation in PD-ME. Based on these results, this study makes practical suggestions for encouraging teachers’ participation in PD-ME.
