한국 탈춤의 미학적 논의에서 바흐친의 카니발레스크 수용과 의의

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 한국 탈춤의 미학적 논의에서 바흐친의 카니발레스크가 수용될 수 있음에 주목하고, 탈춤 내 연희자의 춤사위가 지니는 생성력과 그 다양한 미학적 구성을 카니발레스크를 통해 예증하는 것이다. 이는 탈과 춤이 핵심 요소인 탈춤에서 연희자의 춤사위를 통해 표현되는 다양한 양상들을 생성력의 관점으로 사유하고 이로부터 미학적 구성을 설명함으로써 탈춤의 가치 평가를 위한 근거가 될 수 있다는 점에서 그 필요성이 있다.이에 봉산탈춤을 중심으로 탈을 쓴 연희자의 춤사위를 통해 표현되는 다양한 양상들을 민중웃음을 기반으로 한 소통-희극적인 풍자성, 순환 원리의 양가성, 생성의 그로테스크 리얼리즘의 특성들로 살펴보았다. 즉, 연희자가 탈과 춤을 통해 등장인물을 유형화하는 전개 과정의 기저를 이루는 민중성 자체에 선재하는 힘, 해체와 구성을 가능하게 만드는 근원적 잠재력을 고찰하고, 민중의 웃음문화 속 존재론적 평등화를 이루는 연희 공간의 특성을 고찰함으로써 탈춤의 연행원리를 긍정적으로 파악하고, 탈춤의 미학적 논의를 위한 새로운 방법론적 예시가 되고자 했다. 아울러 본고에서 예증의 대상으로 선정하여 논의한 봉산탈춤의 주요 과장들은 후속 연구들과 실제적인 담론에서 또 다른 프리즘을 통해 새롭게 사유될 수 있을 것이다. This study is meaningful in view of expanding the prospect of Bakhitin’s study out of literature, opening theoretical network by applying his study to the flow of the study on mask dance and providing the possibility of dealing the study on the aspect of carnivalesque in Korean mask dance in the field with actual works, not limited to the linguistic dimension, through the practical illustration. Therefore, it is desired that this study can help understanding Korean mask dance in the present age. In addition, it is expected to draw continuous interest in the role and value of dance in the area of study on mask dance to widen the field of academic connection and actively discuss the various phenomena of dance in view of talk and becoming and communication as Bakhitin declared.
