‘三打祝家莊’의 구성과 인물 -金聖嘆의 비평을 중심으로-

Abstract

이 글은 김성탄이 비평을 가한 70회 본 『수호전』 중에서, ‘三打祝家莊’(43～49회)의 서사적 위치, 구성의 묘미, 성격 창조의 양상을 검토한 것이다. 논의 내용은 크게 네 가지이다. 첫째, 46, 47, 49회만을 ‘三打祝家莊’으로 본 기존의 견해와 달리, 그 범위를 43～49회까지 넓혀 잡았다. 그래야만 발단과 결말을 갖춰 독립 서사로서의 완결성을 지니게 되기 때문이다. 둘째, 양산박을 기준으로 삼을 때,『수호전』 의 서사 본류가 형성되는 기점은 宋江이 합류하는 40회이다. 서사 흐름이 개인 중심에서 집단 위주로 바뀌는 전환점이자, 송강과 양산박의 역량이 시험된 1차 관문으로서, ‘삼타축가장’의 의의를 밝혀냈다. 셋째, 개인의 이야기와 집단의 이야기가 유기적으로 결합되는 서사 구성의 묘미를 주목하였다. 축가장 전투는 戴宗의 薊州 行으로부터 촉발되고, 登州에서 解珍 형제의 호랑이 사냥으로부터 해결의 실마리가 풀리기 시작한다. 이러한 구성은 개인 서사와 집단 서사의 유기적이고 조화로운 결합을 가능하게 했다. 넷째, 인물의 성격을 뚜렷하게 부조하는 김성탄의 개작 및 비평 양상을 검토하였다. 김성탄은 石秀를 부정적으로 평가하기 시작했으며, 자기 견해를 강화하기 위해 개작도 마다하지 않았다. 관리와 토호의 위선과 악행을 부각시켜, 순량했던 백성 解珍 형제가 잔인한 도적으로 변해가는 과정을 잘 보여주었다. 欒廷玉에 대한 평가는, 비평이 작가의 의도나 인물의 텍스트 내 비중과 상관없이 얼마나 창의적일 수 있는가를 잘 보여준다.This paper investigated the narrative position, structural subtleties and aspects creating characteristics in SanDaZhuJiaZhuang(from 43rd to 49th episode) in Shuihuchuan(『水滸傳』) with 70 episodes which were criticized by JinShengtan. This paper pointed out four issues. At first, unlike the existing opinion considering only 46th, 47th and 49th episodes as ‘SanDa- ZhuJiaZhuang’, the scope was expanded from the 43rd to the 49th episode. It’s because the contents only in that scope can have the completion as the independent narrative with beginning and ending. Next, when Liang- shanpo(梁山泊) is considered as the benchmark, the main narrative steam of Shuihuchuan is formed in the 40th episode when SongJiang(宋江) joined. The meaning of SanDaZhuJiaZhuang was identified as the first gateway testing the competence of SongJiang and Lingshanpo as well as the turning point when the narrative flow was changed from the focus on individuals to the focus on a group. Furthermore, this paper paid attention to the subtleties of narrative structure systematically organizing the stories of individuals and those of groups. ZhuJiaZhuang(祝家莊) battle was triggered by the movement of DaiZong(戴宗) to Zizhou(薊州) and the clue to the solution of a problem was found from the tiger hunt by ZieZhen(解珍) brothers in Dengzhou(登州). Such a structure enables the systematic and harmonious linkage between individual narrative and collective narrative. The last discussion was about the aspects of modification and criticisms by JinShengtan distinctly describing the personalities of characters. JinShengtan started to make the negative description on ShiXiu(石秀) and never mind about modifying the stories for strengthening his own opinions. He clearly described the process that Shi Xiu brothers were changed from native subjects to the cruel thieves by emphasizing the hypocrisy and wicked acts of government officers and powerful local families. The criticism on LuanTingyu(欒廷玉) accurately demonstrated how creative the criticism was regardless of the intentions of authors or importance of characters in texts.
