Abstract
The Prose Selections of Tang-Song is a specific and precise expression of Tang-Song concepts of writing styles and literature. In terms of rules of compilation, The Prose Selections of Tang-Song were generally compiled in order of writing styles, writers, types, and skills. Lü, Zuqian’s commented and appreciated ‘the Prose of Eight Masters in Tang-Song Dynasty’. Especially Guwenguanjian focusing on the structure and the style of Classical prose. This book established the literary school through the criticism of comments about selection and appreciating the prose of Tang and Song, which could help efficiently the a candidate for an examination to learn and follow it, and moreover to success the civil service examination. The critical reception through the criticism of commentaries by Lü Zuqian could be explained in three introductions. First, it focused on the one of the Song Period, ‘Wen-yi-zai-dao’. Second, it expressed the model and the structure of Classical prose and constructed the literary theory which established the consciousness of criticism and appreciation by comments. Third, it also emphasized the feeling of the prose and the private distinction of the author, which included contents of the Classical prose.
