Abstract
To investigate the possibility of RDF(Refuse Derived Fuel) as a substitutive fuel instead of the coal or LNG gas on the co-combustion of Sewage sludge and RDFs, the combustion characteristics of the Sewage sludge and several RDFs were analyzed respectively and together through various experiments. The combustion characteristics of materials were investigated in detail by TGA and DTG techniques and a heating value was measured by a bomb calorimeter. The basic data such as moisture, combustible material and ash was analyzed in wt%. The temperature and the residence time in the combustor were employed as variables. The temperature of the combustor ranged from 400oC to 1000oC at intervals of 100oC. The residence time in the combustor was fixed at 5, 8, 10, 15 and 20 min. The inlet flow rate of air with an excess of oxygen was maintained at 300mL/min. A 10g of sample was taken out from the combustor. The GC analysis was executed using the exhaust fume trapped through a gas collector. As a result of this study, the heating value, moisture and component % had a big effect on the combustion condition. As the temperature and time of combustion were raised, the concentration of CO was decreased but the concentration of CO2, NOx and SOx were increased steadily. The efficiency of co-combustion with Sewage sludge and RDF was much higher than that of single combustion of Sewage sludge. Finally, the mixing ratio 1 : 4 of Sewage sludge and RDF was analyzed as the best condition of co-combustion.
