Wiener Werksttte is the one that had the most influence on establishing the modern craft and design in the early 20th century. In this study, focused on the metal art, the background of its establishment, the development and the influential elements on modern craft will be discussed. In its effort to translate everyday life into art, the Wiener Werksttte put artists and craftmen together in its work. That is, it tried to add practicality to aesthetics in the daily goods. At the beginning, its preference was mainly the shapes of geometrical abstract and the materials of glasston, silver and copper which could be better used in formative respect instead of expensive traditional jewels. However, the main reason it could not get the popularity of the public despite its individual influence and effort was that it took the lead too far in this field. Most of all, later on it lost its originality by giving up its idea and taking up jewelry and expensive traditional materials. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that the original idea of Wiener Werksttte has a great effect on the modernization of craft and design.
