Abstract
In this study, long term trends of tensile strength and hydraulic properties of natural fiber drain are examined. Natural fiber drain(NFD) made with organic jute and coir fibers was buried in the distilled water, Kwang-Yang seawater and the two types of clay soils obtained in southern and western parts of Korea, Kwang-Yang and Si-hwa. Specimens are taken out in 3, 6 and 9 month intervals, and tensile strength and hydraulic conductivity tests of the NFD are performed. It was found that the deterioration of the natural fiber drain is highest for the specimens which experienced summer and in Kwang-Yang soil which has high organic and clay contents
