한국소설에 나타난 환대의 존재론과 장소의 윤리 -｢첫사랑｣, ｢상류엔 맹금류｣, ｢당신이 그동안 세계를 지키고 있었다는 증거｣를 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 근접학의 ‘적절한 거리’와 데리다의 ‘무조건적 환대’의 개념을 바탕으로, 세 편의 한국소설에서 타자에 대한 관계적 사유가 나타나는 형상화 방식과 그 의미를 고찰하였다. 우리 사회에서도 다양하고 전면적인 형태로 발생하고 있는 불평등을 줄이고 환대와 성원권의 영역을 더욱 넓힐 필요가 있다. 세 소설 속에서 드러나는 타자성에 대한 성찰과 질문을, 자리/장소를 제공함으로써 ‘사람됨’을 인정하고 인정받는 환대의 윤리와 연관하여 다루었다. 특히 세 소설 모두 특정한 자리/장소와 직결된 환대와 적대의 구체적인 양상을 보여주었다. ｢첫사랑｣에서는 타자의 언어와 자리/장소를 박탈함으로써 ‘목소리’와 성원권을 부정하는 폭력성을 다루었고, ｢상류엔 맹금류｣는 맹금의 룰로 대표되는 규칙과 규범을 준수하지 않음으로써 자리/장소에서 내처지고 사람됨을 부정당해 혐오의 대상이 되는 비극적 인물들을 보여주었다. ｢당신이 그동안 세계를 지키고 있었다는 증거｣에서는 서로에 대한 상호돌봄의 책임을 구현하는 지극한 환대의 장소를 보여줌으로써 타자와 이방인, 약자들에게 마땅히 주어져야 할 자리/장소에 대한 권리를 사유해 보았다. 이 소설들은 우리 시대가 내재한 환대의 가능성과 불가능성, 적대의 문제를 예민하게 부각하는 동시에 타자성에 대한 수용과 교감의 희망까지 진지하게 탐구했다. 다원적 가치를 수용하는 새로운 패러다임을 정립하고 확산해야 할 현재 우리 사회의 조건을 고려할 때, 이 소설들은 동시대에 가능한 환대의 비전 및 타자와 약자와 함께 추구할 공존과 상생의 가능성을 문학적으로 구현하고 있다. Based on the concept of ‘proper distance’ of proxemics and ‘unconditional hospitality’ of Jacques Derrida, this paper considered the mode of shaping and its meaning of the relationship with others in three Korean novels. In our society, it is necessary to reduce inequality that is occurring in various and all-round forms and expand the sphere of hospitality and membership. The reflection and questioning of the other in the three novels were dealt with in connection with the ethics of hospitality that recognized as a human by providing a place. In particular, all three novels showed specific aspects of hospitality and hostility directly linked to a particular place. “First Love” showed the violence of denying the voice and membership by depriving others of language and place. “Rapacious birds of the upper” presented tragic characters who were denied and hated at the place by failing to abide by the rules represented by the rules of rapacious birds. “Evidence that you've been defending the world” showed a place of hospitality that fulfilled the responsibilities of mutual care, emphasizing the right to places that should be given to others, strangers, and the weak. These novels have highlighted the possibility and impossibility of hospitality, and the problem of hostility, while seriously exploring the hope of acceptance and communication of the other. In our society at present, which must establish a new paradigm of accepting pluralism, these novels embodies the vision of hospitality and the possibility of coexistence.
