Abstract
As public’s awareness of environmental protection and the rising cost of raw materials, during the past decade, there have been an increasing interest in the advanced production technology to reduce the consumption of raw materials. There are two methods to reduce the consumption. The first method is to enhance the utilization rate of raw materials and reduce waste in the production process, such as lean production method. Compared with second method, this method is used more widely and deeply in production process. The second method is to reduce raw material requirement, such as building a close-loop supply chain management and recycling the end-of-life or end-of-use products. After this, the manufacturer can use these components, which collected from recycled products. Nowadays, increasing number of enterprises added backward supply chain management on the original forward supply chain management, forming a closed-loop supply chain management, in order to minimize the total production cost of manufacturer. However, the problem is that the residual value of recycled products in the reverse supply chain management is hard to estimate. Due to different using environment, the same product differs greatly in residual value. Although it is known to all that the recycled products have economic value, the undetectability and uncertainty of the residual value are the biggest challenge in the reverse supply chain management. This technical challenge limited the development of the reverse supply chain management for many years. However, with the rapid development of the basic technology of the Internet of Things, the manufacturers put sensors and embedded information system in the products. Then, the manufacturer can use sensor network and wireless transmission to track and supervise each product by embedded identification code. By analyzing the collected product information, it is easier to obtain the residual value of the recycled product. By this way, after recycling, manufacturers can do better in formulating pricing strategies and reducing uncertainty. This study focuses on a recycling model for an imperfect production system for multiple types of products under an IoT environment. Because in the actual production, imperfect products are unavoidable. The imperfect rate of production rate is generally random. The purpose of this research is to determine the best strategy for recycled products and minimization of the total cost. The structure of this research is as follows: Chapter 1 describes the background and research motivation. Chapter 2 contains the literature review. Chapter 3 develops the mathematical model for this research. Finally, Chapter 4 concludes the findings and major extensions of the study.
