최현석 작곡 '독주 가야금을 위한<탄금대>'분석

Abstract

본 논문은 최현석 작곡의 창작오페라 ‘우륵’의 주제곡들을 기반으로 가야금을 위한 독주곡으로 재탄생된‘독주 가야금을 위한 <탄금대>’를 연구대상으로 삼았다. 서양 작곡기법으로 만들어진 이 곡을 분석하여 보다 깊게 이해하며 작곡가는 이 곡 안에 전통음악의 색을 얼마나 어떤 방식으로 녹여내고자 했는지 알아보는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. ‘독주 가야금을 위한 <탄금대>’는 Ⅰ.정녕 그대가... Ⅱ.설레임도 모르는 무정한 님아... Ⅲ.사랑가 Ⅳ.덧없는 세상살이 Ⅴ.탄금대와 같이 각각의 소제목을 가진 다섯 개의 곡들로 이루어져 있다. 곡에 쓰인 음정진행 및, 음계, 선율을 곡별로 분석하여 작곡자의 작곡기법을 알아보고 곡 안에서 찾을 수 있는 우리나라 전통 음악적 요소와 서양음악기법 안에서의 활용방법을 살펴보았다.

Ⅰ.정녕 그대가...는 총 35마디로 음과 리듬의 반복 사용, 도약진행으로 급박함을 표현하였고 주제선율의 리듬변주, 옥타브 변주 등으로 선율에 지속적인 변화로 단조로움을 지양하고 있다. Ⅱ.설레임도 모르는 무정한 님아... 는 총 34마디로 반음계적 진행과 선율의 반복, 늘임표의 사용으로 선율진행에 여유로움을 끌어내며 차용음의 사용으로 음계의 다양성을 시도하고 있다. Ⅲ.사랑가는 총 46마디로 순차진행과 도약진행, 그리고 반음계적 진행을 다양하게 사용하여 화려하고 다채로운 선율을 만들어가며 차용음의 사용으로 미묘한 음색을 만들어 내고 있다. Ⅳ.덧없는 세상살이는 총 31마디이며 느리고 일률적인 리듬진행으로 서정적 표현을 이끌어냈으며 나폴리 6화음을 사용한 감3도 진행이 보이고 있다. Ⅴ.탄금대는 총 54마디로 3음 음계 사용으로 절제감을 표현했고 주선율의 리듬변주로 단조로운 선율에 변화를 준다. 종결구 부분은 리듬분할과 화성단음계, 나폴리 6화음을 사용하며 선율의 변화와 절정을 끌어내고 있다. 작곡가는 서양기법으로 작곡된 창작오페라 ‘우륵’을 기반으로 하는 ‘독주가야금을 위한 <탄금대>’에 한국 민족의 정서를 느껴지게 하기 위하여 곡의 도입부분에 파와 시가 없는 전형적인 펜타토닉 스케일을 사용하여 전통음색을 모색하였으며, 반음을 아래로 내리는 음 진행의 사용으로 육자배기 토리의 꺾는 음을 담아내었다. 또한 한국 민요나 산조와 같은 전통음악의 빠른 6/8박의장단 가운데에도 애수와 슬픔을 담고 있는 것을 표방하여 사용함으로써 3박 계열의 굿거리, 중중모리 장단감을 드러내었다. 작곡가는 연주자의 곡 해석을 신뢰하고 자유로운 표현을 권장하여 연주자가 전통 음악적 시김새나 여음, 농현 등의 사용을 함으로서 연주시 전통가야금 음색이 충분히 드러나도록 하였다.; Based on the theme songs of Choi Hyun-suk's creative opera "Ureuk," this paper has made " <Tangeumdae> for Solo Gayageum" a study target. The purpose of the study is to analyze and understand the song, which is made using Western composition techniques, and to find out how the composer wanted to melt the colors of traditional Korean music inside the song. "<Tangeumdae> for Solo Gayageum" consists of five songs with sub-titles, which are titled as follows. I.You really... Ⅱ.My heartless lover... III.The love song IV.The empty life V. Tangeumdae We analyzed the rhythm, scales and melody of the five songs by song, and looked at traditional Korean musical elements and how to use them in Western music composition techniques. I.you really... .are monotonous with repeated use of melody and rhythm, leaping progress, and variations in subject melody. II.My heartless lover... attempts to diversify the scales by using borrowed notes, drawing room for melody progression through semi-negative progression, repetition of melody, and use of fermata. III.The love song. uses a variety of progression, leaping and semi-negative progression to produce subtle tones through the use of borrowed 3rd and borrowed 6th, creating colorful melodies. IV.The empty life, drews lyrical expression with a slow, uniform rhythm, and a third persimmon using Neapólitan síxth is also showing progress. V.Tangeumdae expressed a sense of moderation through the use of a three notes scale and the rhythm variation of the arrangement rate changes the monotonous melody. The ending part uses rhythm division, the Martian scale and the Neapólitan síxth, drawing changes and the climax in the song. The composer used the Pentatonic scale in the beginning of the song to seek out the traditional Korean sound, and captured the crackling sound of Yukjabaegi-tory through the use of semitone progression. In addition, traditional Korean music such as folk songs and Sanjo used to express sorrow and sadness in the 6/8 beats fast rhythm, revealing the three-beats of Gutguhri and Jungjungmori. The composer trusts the interpretation of the performers and encouraged them to express their free expression, so that the traditional Gayageum sound was fully revealed when performing by properly using Sigimsae, Yeoeum, and Nonghyun.
