미셸 푸코와 건축 역사서술 - 테크네의 일반사에 자리잡은 건축의 역사 -

Abstract

본 연구는 건축 역사서술에 대한 프랑스 철학자 미셸 푸코의 짧은 언급을 검토해 그가 제시하고자 했던 서술 방법론에 대한 규명 그리고 그 가능성을 살피고자 한다. 푸코가 고려한 건축사 서술은 “테크네Techne의 일반사안에 자리 잡게 하는 것”으로 당시(1982)만이 아니라 현재에서도 매우 낮선 개념이다. 이를 파악하기 위해 우선 푸코가 이전에 건축과 조우했던 경우를 파악하여 건축에 대한 관점을 살필 것이다. 그리고 1930년대 이후의 건축 역사서술에 내재된 관점과 푸코의 역사 인식의 차이를 드러낼 것이다. 마지막으로 푸코가 인간관계의 주제에 천착하던 시기에 나온 테크네의 개념을 분석하고 그 객체화(objectivation)로의 건축인식과 그 역사서술의 가능한 모습과 한계를 보고자 한다. This study aims to examine the brief statement about the historiography of architecture by the French philosopher Michel Foucault and the possibility of a historical description according to his method. His historiographic proposition, “the history of architecture back in (the) general history of techne,” is a novel idea not only for his contemporaries but also for us. To grasp the meaning of Foucault’s proposition, we begin by considering his position with regard to architecture or architectural space in certain discussions till then. We then compare his standpoint on historical recognition with other viewpoints about historical narratives that can be found in books written since 1930. Finally, we interpret the concept of “techne” in the sense of “relation,” whose objectivation is for him his concern on architecture and examine possible aspects and their limits.
