Abstract
Recently, the introduction of BIM (Building Information Modeling) has promoted a paradigm shift in construction industry. BIM guideline is the foundation for the introduction and application of BIM, and plays an important role for successful BIM project performance. Moreover, among different requirements of BIM guideline, BIM Data requirements presents essential standards and conditions for BIM Model, and it is critical for quality assurance of BIM Model. However, the current BIM guideline and data requirements demand a considerable effort when users access and search needed information. In addition, the repetition, contradiction and omission of data causes difficulties and confusion to both BIM guideline author and the users. This results in the waste of time, cost, and labor, and decreases efficiency, accuracy and quality of work, which finally hinders successful project performance. In other words, this kind of guideline requires excessive time, cost, and labor for development, maintenance, and renewal. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to develop systematic, accurate and effective BIM data requirements and to improve convenience of BIM Model author and quality of BIM Model by effective and accurate application of standards to BIM Model. This study proposes the development of effective and accurate BIM data requirements and the reduction of time, cost, and effort required for the development. Furthermore, it is expected that the programmatic method of BIM data requirements increases convenience and work efficiency of BIM Model author, which reduces the time for construction of BIM model and design period.
