This paper presents the utilization of concentrated windings for the flux weakening of surface mounted permanent magnet (SPM) synchronous motor using the winding switching technique. A ten-pole, 12-slot, non-salient SPM motor design is proposed that can utilize the winding switching technique. A wide speed range operation with 3.73:1 is demonstrated by performing the 2-D finite element analysis (FEA) on the propose machine model.
