Abstract
The current study compares structural stiffness and damping coefficients of three different types of foil thrust bearings. Overall structural stiffness and damping coefficients largely rely on the under-spring configuration. Furthermore, additional heat treatment of the bump foil greatly enhances the structural characteristics of the test bearing.
