Abstract
This study has been progressed with 60 minutes exercise two times per week for 12 weeks to examine whether the cognitive function has an effect on the short-time memory through the regular rhythm exercise as the method for the prevention of dementia and the maintenance and enhancement of memory, and has obtained the following conclusions for the results of tests before exercising and after exercising about short-term memory, targeting the elderly women First, as a test result of short-term memory, the meaningful syllable after exercising showed the higher value(10.83±1.29) than the meaningful syllable before exercising(9.44±1.68), and the effect of cognitive function on short-term memory showed significant difference(t= -2.335, p˂.05). Second, as a test result of short-term memory, the nonsense syllable after exercising showed the lower value(13.83±3.48) than the nonsense syllable before exercising(14.27±3.48), and the effect of cognitive function on short-term memory did not show significant difference(t= -.425, p˂.05). Third, as a test result of short-term memory, the d igit span test a fter exercising showed the h igher value(7.22±2.31) than the digit span test before exercising(5.83±85), and the effect of cognitive function on short-term memory showed significant difference(t= -2.335, p˂.05).
