This paper presents a comparison of radial flux single rotor and dual rotor configurations of permanent magnet (PM) machines. These configurations include one single-rotor surface mounted permanent magnet (SPM), one single-rotor spoke type interior permanent magnet (SIPM) and two dual rotor SPM-SPM and Spoke-SPM type PM machines. For single rotor, the stator is double layer wound and for dual rotor configuration, the stator is single layer toroidally wound with inner and outer slotted stator surfaces. The salient features of SPM and spoke type configuration are discussed under the same operating conditions. The electromagnetic characteristics and unbalanced magnetic pull analysis of all motors are analyzed by using the finite-element method.en_US
