공공도서관 디지털서비스에 따른 디지털자료실 공간계획 특성 연구

Abstract

정부에서는 디지털자료 전용공간을 확대시켜 의무적으로 조성하도록 하고 있으며 디지털자료실을 통하여 이용자들이 인터넷을 무료로 이용하거나 다양한 미디어자료를 자유롭게 열람할 것을 권장하고 있다. 이처럼 공공도서관이 제공하는 디지털콘텐츠는 점차 확대되고 있는 추세이지만 디지털자료실의 이용서비스 및 공간구성은 다양한 자료열람을 권장하기에는 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 디지털자료실 활성화를 위하여 서울 및 경기소재의 건축 우수 공공도서관 13곳을 대상으로 디지털서비스와 디지털자료실 공간분석을 실시하였다. 조사결과 공공도서관 디지털자료실의 이용대상 및 이용서비스의 범위는 제한적이라 할 수 있으며, PC위주의 획일적인 공간구성으로 인하여 이용자들에게 수동적인 열람환경을 제공하고 있다. 디지털열람좌석은 PC석, 노트북석, DVD석 등과 같이 기기의 종류에 따라 좌석을 구분 짓고 있으나 모두 1인을 기준으로 한 가구계획으로 일률적인 형태로 배치되어 있었으며 디지털자료서가는 대부분 안내데스크 후면에 배치되어 자유롭게 자료를 브라우징하여 선택하기에는 어려움이 있었다. 공공도 서관의 디지털서비스가 이용자들에게 효율적으로 활용되기 위해서는 디지털자료실이 열린 공간으로서 복합적인 기능을 할 수 있도록 공간구성 및 시설계획이 이루어져야 한다.

The government has mandated to create sections for digital contents in public libraries and has recommended visitors use the free internet or view various media resources in such spaces. While digital contents offered at public libraries tend to be expanded gradually, services offered at digital libraries and spatial organizations are not quite sufficiently worth to be recommended. To vitalize digital sections, this study analyzed digital services and spaces of digital sections of 13 architecturally excellent public libraries located in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. The results suggest that the range of users and services were limited and standardized spatial organization mainly composed of computers offers passive viewing environments for users. Most of digital sections were divided by the purpose of a space such as computer spaces, laptop spaces, and DVD spaces, though seats are all single seats and placed uniformly. For digital services at public libraries to be used effectively, digital sections should be planned to offer complex purposes as an open space.
