They correctly pointed out our preferred choice of use of the sniffing position instead of the neutral position. We also know that the in-line head and neck position (neutral position) of the patient is more suitable than the sniffing position for actual intubation using the Pentax-AWS.1 However, the aim of our study was not to intubate patients with the Pentax-AWS but to investigate the change of laryngeal view with increments in cricoid pressure, using our original force-sensor unit and video-recording system.
